Creality Ender 7 Bondtech LGX Lite + E3D Volcano Hot End Kit
Choose options
PLEASE NOTE: Recently BondTech has released the LGX Lite V2. Unfortunately they removed the ability to mount the LGX lite with a "sandwich" plate like this kit uses. To use this kit you will need to buy the V1 extruder that has the removable plate between the extruder and the motor.
The first video above was created for the Mosquito Magnum hot end. The E3D Volcano kit was derived from the Mosquito Magnum kit and therefore the installation is nearly identical with the exception of the clamp style mount. Additionally, a very small amount of material needs to be filed off of the mounting collar of the hotend to get the clamp screws to thread into the Ender 7 carriage standoffs (see second video). This filing is extremely minor and can be performed in less than 1 min. An installation drawing is included with every kit showing the clamp, screws, and general assembly.
The Creality Ender 7 3D printer is a platform that has a lot of potential. However, there are a few design elements of the printer that could use some improvements to allow the printer to realize its full potential as a high speed machine.
The Ender 7 hot end is advertised as a higher capacity / higher flow unit - and this may be true compared to an Ender 3 - but there is still room for improvement. The E3D Volcano has been a high flow "standard" in the 3D printing community for a long time.
Various tests online suggest this hot end can support a volumetric flow rate of nearly 25mm^3/s - 30mm^3/s. This is nearly identical to what I was able to achieve with the Mosquito Magnum. It is a very respectable flow rate considering the Mosquito Magnum hot end costs 2x more.
Therefore if you want to get the most out of your Ender 7 on a budget and run higher print speeds or larger nozzles, the investment into a higher flow hot end will easily pay for itself in time saved.
The transition from Bowden tube to direct drive (Bondtech LGX Lite) will also increase your filament control by eliminating the 'spring' inherent with a Bowden tube setup. I have noticed much less stringing and oozing when printing in PETG.
This upgrade kit includes all of the 3D printed parts necessary to fit the Bondtech LGX lite and Creality Spider hot end plus the additional hardware necessary. All parts are printed in carbon fiber PETG material.
What is included in the kit:
- LGX Lite Mount
- E3D Volcano Mount
- Fan Guard
- Part Cooling Fan Shroud
- Hardware
- Optional: CR Touch Bracket
Note: You can optionally add a bracket to attach a CR Touch module to the carriage. It is not necessary for this install but will allow you use the autobed levelling feature of this machine. Add the bracket in the product options.
Creality has apparently removed the BLtouch / CRtouch firmware from their website. You can download it directly from me here: Ender 7 ABL Firmware
